WHEN DID YOU START MAKIN’ MUSIC?
This band was born nearly a decade ago. Are all of the original members present? No. Is this a good thing? Yes. This new incarnation of this band is relatively young but in the short time we’ve been together the speed at which we’ve reached the level we need to be at has been lightning fast. We’ve performed all over our home Province of B.C. along with the odd trip down to the states. The most recent being St. Louis.
J’ace: Fender strat for live performances, Gibson Les Paul for the studio recordings
Jonathan: Ernie Ball StingRay
Dimitar: Drums – Black Panther by Mapex and SQ2 by Sonor cymbals – Alchemy by Istanbul Agop and almost all of the rest handmade brands from Turkey.
WHEN DID YOU START TO PLAY MUSIC
J’ace: I was forced into being classically trained on the piano at the early age of 4. Self-taught on the guitar.
Jonathan: I started playing piano at age 8. Bass followed.
Dimitar: I decided to become a drummer when I was 13. It took me 2 years to collect money for my first drums set. It was old and very used by unknown brand.
IS PURSUING MUSIC A PRICEY ENDEAVOR?
So far no loans have been required! We try not to let the money aspect of being in a band get in the way. People will always notice when you take the cheap route whether it be in the production of the music, videos, photo shoots, etc. Do it right or not at all!
EVER BEEN TO A HIGHER LEARNIN’ BOX?
Noelle has been to Musical Theatre College, J’ace has been schooled in the field of Audio Engineering, Jonathan has a Master’s degree in Business and Dimitar has a Master’s degree in Nuclear Physics.
WHAT’S YOUR SONGWRITING PROCESS LIKE?
The song writing process usually consists of our guitarist J’ace making a riff/chord progression then our lead singer Noelle adds lyrics and vocal melodies to it. Jonathan and Dimitar then adds their own parts to it (bass and drums), subject to change by the band as it comes together.
DO YOU THINK IT’S IMPORTANT FOR MUSICIANS TO WRITE THEIR OWN SONGS?
Absolutely. It’s hard to connect with songs that aren’t your own.
